Repeat Dispensing through the NHS is perfect for patients who take the same medicines regularly. Instead of requesting your repeat prescription every single time from your GP, you can set up NHS repeat dispensing and let your pharmacy manage it for you — making your life easier and stress-free.
This service is ideal for long-term medicines and ongoing treatments. It also supports private prescription repeat dispensing for patients who need it.
How Repeat Dispensing Works
Step 1 – Speak to Your GP / Prescriber
Ask your GP, nurse or prescriber if you can move to electronic repeat dispensing. If suitable, they’ll authorise a set number of repeat prescriptions and allow information sharing with the pharmacy — this helps your pharmacist review your treatment properly.
Step 2 – First Issue Dispensed
Your first digital repeat prescription will be sent directly to Time Pharmacy. We will process and supply your medicine.
Step 3 – Request Each Issue When Needed
When your next issue is due, simply contact the pharmacy. Before we dispense, we will check things like:
👉 have you seen any healthcare professional recently?
👉 have you started any new medication?
👉 are you experiencing any side effects?
👉 do you need all items on your repeat this time?
This helps prevent waste and keeps NHS repeat dispensing efficient.
Step 4 – Review Required
When your final authorised prescription has been supplied, we will inform you to contact your GP for a medication review before new repeat issues can continue.
